Additional Information:

  • titled 'Capital Radio' on the original EP of the same name, but all subsequent releases refer to this song as Capital Radio One to prevent confusion with the song Capital Radio Two
  • Joe Strummer: "We've just written a new song called "Capital Radio", and a line in it goes "listen to the tunes of the Doctor Goebbels Show". They say "Capital Radio - in tune with London, yeah, yeah, yeah!" They're in tune with Hampstead. They're not in tune with us at all. I hate them." [1]
  • performed for the first time in April 1977 in France when Topper Headon joined the band [2]
  • re-recorded with extra lyrics in 1979 as Capital Radio Two on The Cost of Living EP as the Capital Radio EP was by then extremely rare and regularly bootlegged to meet demand
